South Africa
Our Last destination, Chobe River, Kasane in Botswana.

Toro Lodge & Camping on the Chobe River. Now this is what us South Africans would call a camp site.
Each site has it's own private ablution block with a place to wash-up the dishes, toilet and hot shower.

We took our last 'Sundowners Cruise on the Chobe River'

Beautiful shot of the Chobe River.

Full Chobe River on its way to join the Zambezi River.

Travel Blog #49 - Victoria Falls

Location

South Africa
Finally, the Victoria Falls, one of the Natural Wonders of the world. One can sense the ‘finishing line’ is close. Only Botswana then South Africa.

‘Dr. Livingstone I presume’

Toni and the start of the falls in the back ground.

The mighty Zambezi ‘pumping’. We were both drenched.

There was so much mist one could hardly see the falls.

View of the Main Falls. It is difficult to explain the amount of water gushing over the falls. Goose pimple stuff.

More water & water.

The Zambian side of the falls.

We decide to take a walk onto the bridge linking Zimbabwe & Zambia. One has to clear customs on the Zimbabwean side but it was painless and the officials very friendly.

Bungee jumper on her way.

Hanging at the end of the rope just meters from the water.

The Zambezi on its way to Lake Kariba.

As this was almost the end of the road for us we decided to treat ourselves and booked into a’Zambezi Lodge. Dining area in the back.

View of the swimming pool.

The Zambezi River.

Travel Blog #48 - Zimbabwe, Bulawayo

Location

South Africa
We turned North at Bulawayo and started heading for Victoria falls.

Main road heading into Bulawayo.

The A8 heading north from Bulawayo to Victoria falls.
The famous Hwange National Park on the left.

Sunset on the way to Victoria Falls.
It was one of the longest legs we have done on the whole trip but we decided to push through to Victoria Falls as there was not much on the go between Karoi and Bulawayo.

Travel Blog # 47 - Zimbabwe, Gweru

Location

South Africa

From Chinhoyi, we passed through Chegutu, Kadoma and headed for Gweru.
The surprise of the whole trip is definately Zimbabwe.

The people are so friendly, no pot holes and even though one passes through a road block every 30kms or so, they are hassle free and one gets sent on your way with 'most welcome' and ‘enjoy your trip’.

Beautiful scenery between Chinhoyi and Gweru.

Lovely ‘leafy’ suburb of Gweru.

‘Good old days’ Air Zimbabwe.

Travel Blog #46 - Karoi, Zimbabwe

Location

South Africa
We were so looking forward to doing the ferry thing down Kariba Dam from Kariba to Victoria Falls. An ‘old salty dog’ we spoke to said that ‘in the good old days’ there were two ferries on the Lake every day, one going up and one going down, every day the year and one had to book 3 months in advance.

Anyway, we decided to do the 1,000kms to Victoria Falls via the midlands of Zimbabwe.

The beautiful view looking down the escarpment from Makuti towards Mana Pools National Park.

The initial plan was to visit the National Park but one has to obtain permits at some or other place which we had already passed and they couldn’t tell us the cost. It would have meant back trekking to get the permits and then another 100kms or so to the gate.

This all sounded too complicated so we headed for Shinoyi via Karoi.
